Homo sapiens Protein: CDH6
Summary
InnateDB Protein IDBP-14132.6
Last Modified 2014-10-13 [Report errors or provide feedback]
Gene Symbol CDH6
Protein Name cadherin 6, type 2, K-cadherin (fetal kidney)
Synonyms CAD6; KCAD;
Species Homo sapiens
Ensembl Protein ENSP00000265071
InnateDB Gene IDBG-14130 (CDH6)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types.
Subcellular Localization Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Highly expressed in brain, cerebellum, and kidney. Lung, pancreas, and gastric mucosa show a weak expression. Also expressed in certain liver and kidney carcinomas.
