Protein Name | interferon (alpha, beta and omega) receptor 1
Synonyms | AVP; IFN-alpha-REC; IFNAR; IFNBR; IFRC;
Species | Homo sapiens | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ensembl Protein | ENSP00000270139
InnateDB Gene | IDBG-2095 (IFNAR1)
Protein Structure | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
UniProt Annotation | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Function | Associates with IFNAR2 to form the type I interferon receptor. Receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding to type I IFNs triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of a number of proteins including JAKs, TYK2, STAT proteins and IFNR alpha- and beta- subunits themselves. Can also transduce IFNB signals without the help of IFNAR2, and not activating the Jak-STAT pathway.
Subcellular Localization | Isoform 1: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Disease Associations | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tissue Specificity | IFN receptors are present in all tissues and even on the surface of most IFN-resistant cells. Isoform 1, isoform 2 and isoform 3 are expressed in the IFN-alpha sensitive myeloma cell line U266B1. Isoform 2 and isoform 3 are expressed in the IFN-alpha resistant myeloma cell line U266R. Isoform 1 is not expressed in IFN-alpha resistant myeloma cell line U266R. {ECO:0000269PubMed:8307198}.
