SIVA1 diminishes NFkappaB and enhances JNK activity to favour apoptosis by physically interacting with MAP3K7 (TAK1) and XIAP.
SIVA1 promotes K-48 polyubiquitination of TRAF2 and inhibits TCR-mediated activation of NF-kappaB.

Summary This gene encodes a protein with an important role in the apoptotic (programmed cell death) pathway induced by the CD27 antigen, a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TFNR) superfamily.
